Ohio Medicaid Eligibility Rules

To be eligible for Ohio Medicaid, an individual must meet the following criteria (through April 2022):

Resident

Applicant must be living in the state where the nursing home is located

Age or Disability

Either 65, blind or disabled

Asset Allowances

Single Person

  • $2,000.00 in cash

  • House (up to $688,000 in equity)

  • Car (so long as used for transportation)

  • Personal belongings

  • Irrevocable Pre-paid burial plan

Married Couple

  • $29,724.00 to $148,620.00 in cash

  • House (if one spouse or other exempt person lives there)

  • Car (any value)

  • Personal belongings

  • Irrevocable Pre-paid burial plan

Income Allowances

  • Single

  • $50.00 per month

  • Married Couple

  • Minimum of $2,465 per month, maximum of $3,715.50 per month
